SELKIRK is ready to welcome in the festive season with a spectacular event this weekend.
On Saturday (December 3) Souters can enjoy a full day of activities.
From 10am until 5pm the Christmas Market will be in the town square with more than 25 stalls selling a wide range of gifts and treats for all the family.
Crowds will also be entertained by musical performers at the extravaganza, and while they wait for the Christmas lights to be switched on families can enjoy the funfair rides which will line the High Street.
Santa Claus will, of course, make an appearance with his elves, with youngsters having the chance to meet him in person.
Councillor Caroline Cochrane, who helps organise the switch-on and market event, said: "Santa will be making a guest appearance at the farmers market this coming Saturday.
"He will be arriving at 2pm and will be in his grotto to speak to all the children and accept their letters.
"He will be switching on the tree lights at 5pm before heading back to the North Pole."
