BORDERS motorists have been warned about rescheduled road and lane closures set to go ahead on the A68 next week.
The closures, in place between St Boswells and the national border, are scheduled for December 12-14, according to officials.
Poor weather prevented the works from going ahead in November.
The following closures and diversions will be in place from 7.30pm until 6am:
- Monday (December 12), the A68 will be closed in both directions between St Boswells and Bonjedward, with a signed diversion route in place via the A699 and A698
- Tuesday (December 13), the A68 will be closed in both directions between Bonjedward and the junction of the A68 and the A6088, with a signed diversion route in place via the A698 and A6088
- Wednesday (December 14), a single lane closure will be in place between the junction of the A68 and A6088 and the national border. Traffic will be controlled by temporary traffic lights
Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s south east network manager, said: “These road marking and stud improvement works will enhance safety for motorists using the A68.
“Due to adverse weather, we were unable to complete these works as planned during November. We’re grateful to road users and local residents for their patience while we return to complete the job.
“We encourage them to plan ahead and allow extra time for their journeys if they do need to travel on these nights.”
Access for residents living within the closure points will be maintained when it is safe to pass through the work area.
