POLICE in the Scottish Borders are warning that scammers are taking advantage of Paypal's money request service, making random requests to accounts.
This generates a real email from Paypal, making it look official.

In the notes section they present themselves as a business requesting a payment, providing a free phone number.

By calling the number, scammers will then try to persuade you to provide payment in some other way.
Officers say that if you receive an email, do not call the number. This is a scam. If you receive a suspicious email, forward it to phishing@PayPal.com
