THE 154th New Year Sprint is due to be held on Friday December 30 2022 and Sunday January 1 2023.
And several Borderers will be taking part hoping to collect the cash prizes on offer.
The first day's events will be run on the eight lane synthetic running track at the new Meadowbank Sports Centre, Edinburgh.
The second day's events will return to the traditional venue of Musselburgh Racecourse, 6 miles east of Edinburgh, where the running will take place on the outer horse racing circuit used for flat racing, in front of the Queen's Stand.
The heats of the New Year Sprint, and all rounds of the supporting events, will be held on the Friday.
A number of Borderers will take part with the majority from Tweed Leader Jed track TLJD.
The draw was made on December 1 at the Justin Lees Hotel in Dalkeith.
Heat 1 includes Gordon Armstrong (9m) TLJT and last year’s winner Stacey Downie (14m) Edinburgh AC.
Heat 2 includes Nina Cessford (22.5m) and Ryan Elliot (7.5m) both TLJT
Heat 3 includes Graeme Armstrong (10m) and Evie Renwick(18m) both TLJT
Heat 5 includes Douglas Young (2.5m) Kelso
Heat 6 includes Callum Murrow (8m) Jedburgh and Scott Tindle (6.5m) TLJT
Heat 7 includes Rojin Barskanmay (18.5m) and Caris Brus (20.5m) both TLJT, Colin Bruce (19.5m) Selkirk, Robert B Noble (TBH) Gala Harriers and Scott Elliot (21.5m) Jedburgh
Heat 8 includes Cameron Clamp (7m) TLJT and Ryan McMichan (9m) Hawick.
The New Year Sprint semi-finals and final on the Sunday will be incorporated into the Musselburgh Racecourse New Year's Day Race meeting.
The Sprint final is due to be televised as part of ITV Racing's coverage of the day's events.
The £3500 first prize makes the Sprint the richest race in the professional calendar, reinforcing the event's position as the sport's premier event.
The programme features the usual mix of Open and Youths events ranging from sprints to middle distance plus Veterans and Ladies sprint events.
All events feature a handicap starting system.
In the event that the horse-race meeting on January 1 is cancelled, the second day's running will be held alongside the horse-race meeting two days later on January 3. Cancellation of that meeting will not result in a further postponement of the running.
