TWEED Leader Jed Track athlete Scott Tindle overcame a ‘start malfunction’ after slipping badly to take the crown as winner of the 154th New Year Sprint at Musselburgh Race Course on Sunday.
And by doing do, he emulated his brother Cameron’s 2015 achievement at the same venue, making them only the second pair of brothers to win the prestigious race.
Running off 6.5m Scott who was narrowly defeated by West Linton’s Stacey Downie in the 153rd race which was held on 31 July 2022 finished second in his heat at Meadowbank on Friday December 30 and won his Cross-tie race ahead of the final.
He won £3,500 and the Eric Liddle trophy.
To find out how the other runners from the Borders fared check this week’s Border Telegraph for the results of all races over the two days.
