They said a “record” turnout for this year’s event would be a fitting tribute which would help fundraise for the foundation named after the late Doddie Weir.
Doddie Aid is a virtual mass-participation exercise event that lasts for 6 weeks from January 1 2023.
The event raises funds for My Name’5 Doddie Foundation, which invests in research to find meaningful treatments for Motor Neurone Disease (MND).
Over the last two years, the event has seen over 30,000 participants cover 4 million miles and raise over £2 million for the Foundation.

Mr Lamont, said: “Doddie Weir is sorely missed but his legacy will live on through all the fantastic work he did to find a cure for MND.
“Every year, tens of thousands of people participate in Doddie Aid and raise huge sums to invest in medical research.
“In 2023, we would love to see a record turnout for Doddie Aid in memory of the late Borders legend. I hope everyone who can take part will join us and get involved.”

Ms Hamilton, said: “It would be a fitting tribute to Doddie Weir if we managed to get more people than ever before participating and raising funds for Doddie Aid.
“It’s a tremendous event that not only raises funds for research into a cure for MND, but also brings people together to exercise and socialise.
“This year’s Doddie Aid should be the biggest yet, so let’s all get involved and do our bit to help find a cure for MND. I’ll be doing my bit for Stuart Hogg’s team and I’d encourage everyone who can to join in the fun too.”
