GREGOR Townsend has named his Scotland squad for the 2023 Guinness Six Nations.

Darcy Graham who scored a hat-trick of tries in Scotland’s last match against Argentina in November, has not been included as he continues to recover from a hamstring injury.

It remains to be seen if he will be fit enough to be called in during the tournament.

But Hawick’s Stuart Hogg who is on 96 appearances for his country, could reach the landmark figure of 100 caps.

Hogg is joined in the squad by fellow Borderer Rory Sutherland for the tournament which kicks off with a game against England at Twickenham on Saturday February 4.

Next up is a game against Wales at Murrayfield one week later.

The Scots then play France at the Stade de France on Sunday February 26.

The final two game against Ireland and Italy are both at Murrayfield on Sunday March 12 and Saturday March 19.

Townsend has named four uncapped players, Bath Rugby wing Ruaridh McConnochie, Glasgow Warriors centre Stafford McDowall, stand-off Ben Healy, who recently agreed a move to Edinburgh Rugby from Munster, and Leicester Tigers’ second row Cameron Henderson are all in contention for full international honours.

 

 

In a squad headed up by captain Ritchie, who led Scotland in all four of the 2022 Autumn Nations Series fixtures, there are returns for experienced players such as Saracens’ Sean Maitland, who has 15 tries from his 53 caps, and centre Huw Jones, who re-joined Glasgow Warriors ahead of the current season and will hope to add to his 31 Scotland appearances, and 12 tries.

Tickets are still available for the final fixture of the 2023 Guinness Six Nations against Italy.
