POLICE Scotland’s newest cohort of officers is preparing to report for duty in communities across Scotland following completion of their first phase of training.

Nearly 300 officers took part in a passing out parade at Police Scotland Headquarters, Tulliallan, yesterday, (Thursday, February 9, 2023) in front of family and loved ones, having completed their initial 12-week course.

And 50 of these officers are destined to work in the Lothians and Scottish Borders Division.

Chief Constable Sir Iain Livingstone QPM thanked the officers for their commitment to public service and underlined the values of Police Scotland.

Sir Iain said: “These constables, who will now deploy across the length and breadth of the country to provide professional, effective and compassionate policing for our communities.

“Our officers are rightly held to high standards. Our values of integrity, fairness and respect, and a commitment to upholding human rights are at the heart of everything we do.

“I thank all our officers and staff for their commitment to public service, demonstrated day in, day out right across Scotland. Equally, their family and friends provide crucial support for those serving in an immensely rewarding and challenging vocation.”

The recruits range in age from 18 to 55 years old, and the course was comprised of 197 male officers (63 per cent) and 117 female officers (37 per cent).
