A HAWICK woman has told the Border Telegraph that she felt “intimidated, violated and hated for being black” following unwanted attention at the Galashiels Interchange last weekend.
Then incident took place around 8pm on Saturday February 4 as she was waiting to board the X95 bus to Hawick.
The woman was approached by an apparently drunk man who tapped her on the shoulder and tried to engage her in conversation to which she declined.
Then as she was queueing to board the bus, the man stood behind her and deliberately pushed his upper torso into her back.
When she remonstrated with the man, a youth who was also in the queue told her to respect her elders then said that she should go back to her own country if she didn't like it.
The incident left the woman "severely distressed."
The matter was reported to Police Scotland and a spokesperson said: “Enquiries are ongoing following a report sexual harassment at a bus station in Galashiels around 8 pm on on Saturday February 4.”
