A BORDERS venue is set to host its own version of the Eurovision song contest next month.
After Liverpool beat Glasgow and other UK cities to host Eurovision 2023 on behalf of Ukraine, a Scottish theatre company has decided to create its own event in honour of the annual competition.
The Eurovision Sock Contest will welcome songs from around Europe at the Eastgate Theatre in Peebles on Friday, March 3.
Brought to the Eastgate by the Scottish Falsetto Sock Puppet Theatre, the show follows on from the theatre company's appearances on Britain's Got Talent, the Edinburgh Fringe and international tours.
A spokesperson said: "Earth’s funniest footwear are back with the new show following their appearance on Britain’s Got Talent, annual dates on the Edinburgh Fringe and international tours taking in everywhere from Australia to the Channel Islands, Denmark to the Cheltenham Literary Festival.
"This year the company has turned its unique brand of songs, sketches, socks and violence to the Eurovision and presents an hour of songs and irreverent jokes.
"These are gags sans frontieres with songs from everywhere – Scandinavia to France and the Austro-Hungarian Empire – all performed for the audience’s voting pleasure.
"As the show is a little bit rude, it is recommended for ages 12+."
The Eurovision Sock Contest will hit the Eastgate on Friday, March 3 at 7.30pm.
Tickets are available from the Box Office on 01721 725777 or online at eastgatearts.com
