A HAWICK man who admitted the reset of designer clothing stolen during a raid on a Borders store has been jailed for 15 months at Selkirk Sheriff Court.
Fifty-year-old Scott Shearman pleaded guilty to the offence which happened at his home in Howdenbank, on November 8, 2020, when shirts, jumpers, coats and jeans were recovered.
Two days earlier Andrew Clamp, 30, from Hawick, had stolen more than £2,300 of clothing and accessories from the premises of David Thomson and Sons outfitters in High Street, Jedburgh.
Shearman also received a 15-month jail sentence – to run concurrently – for instructing his dog to attack a police officer in Hillend Drive, Hawick.

The court heard that the dog bit Shearman on his arm instead.
In addition, Shearman received a four-month prison term for stealing £47 worth of items including a razor blade, earplugs and a vacuum cleaner from the B&M Bargains premises in Croft Road, Hawick, on April 14 last year.
Sheriff Peter Paterson said a custodial sentence was inevitable and there was no back-dating of the 19-month jail sentence.
