A TRIO of junior archers from the Scottish Borders struck gold at the recent Scottish Indoor Championships at the Inverclyde Sports Centre in Largs with all three bringing home winning medals in their respective classes.
Eleanor Macdonald, 15 from Melrose, who shoots with Lauderdale Archery Club in Lauder, scored a 522 in the womens U16 recurve category. Saoirse Cruickshank, 11 from Oxton, who shoots with the same club, picked up gold in the womens U12 recurve recording a score of 179.

Shooting in her first competition Saoirse Ctook the event in her stride and said: “Although my score wasn't as good as I've had recently at the club, I enjoyed the experience of my first competition, and I'm really proud to have competed and I'm very happy with my medal.”
Eleanor Macdonald, who is also part of the Scottish Archery U21 Squad, and is sponsored by Live Borders and Rowans’ Trust, smashed her personal best for this event.

She said: "I am very pleased with my score. I have been training with my coach, Bill Mackay and with the Scottish squad recently and it has really paid off."
In the mens U16 recurve, Borderghost Archers Jack Lukacs, 15 from Ashkirk, scored a 510 to secure gold.
