A 63-YEAR-OLD man who attempted to overtake a bus on the A7 when it was unsafe to do so, and collided with another car travelling in the opposite direction, has admitted a charge of dangerous driving.
The offence happened between Hawick and Ashkirk on April 16 last year.
Jedburgh Sheriff Court was told the driver of the other vehicle was forced to take evasive action in an attempt to avoid a collision.

But Raymond Walker, of Hamilton Road, Hawick, still clipped and damaged the vehicle’s wing mirror.
The incident was captured on the CCTV system of the bus with prosecutor Fiona Hamilton adding it was “fortunate” the outcome was not a lot worse.
Defence lawyer Ed Hulme said it was “a gross error of judgement”, pointing out his client had been driving for 12 years without incident.
Walker was fined a total of £370, banned from the road for 12 months and ordered to resit an extended driving test.
