Borderers are invited to attend events taking place this week on June 20th and 21st and learn more about the plans from Fred. Olsen Renewables to develop Hearthstanes Wind Farm.

The project is located approximately 3km south of Tweedsmuir in the Scottish Borders and developers say that it could deliver more than £8m in community benefit.

Visitors to the events will be encouraged to examine the early-stage plans to develop around eight turbines and speak to members of the project team about the process they will be undertaking to bring forward a wind farm. Attendees will also learn about how the proposals can help to support the community to bring forward initiatives – such as a local energy discount scheme.

The events will be taking place on: June 20th - Tweedsmuir Village Hall, 11am – 8pm and June 21st - Broughton Village Hall, 1pm – 8pm

Emily Galloway, Senior Project Manager at Fred. Olsen Renewables said: “We would like to encourage as many people as possible to attend the exhibitions. The events are intended to provide the opportunity for people to meet with members of the Fred. Olsen Renewables team and to understand more about the proposals that we are developing.

“We are very keen to work closely with the local community throughout the development of the proposals. The project is at a very early stage, and we hope that these events will allow us the opportunity to hear peoples view and ideas.”

Anyone that is unable to attend the events will be able to view all of the materials online at www.hearthstaneswindfarm.co.uk or get in touch with the team by calling 07435 763 900 or emailing communities@fredolsen.com.
