THE Melrose Festival 2023 is drawing to a close and it's been another successful week with a host of events taking place in the town.
The festivities started on Sunday morning with the wreath laying ceremony at the War Memorial, followed by the Kirkin’ of the Melrosian at Melrose Parish Church.

Next came the Melrose FC Festival of Football at Gibson Park and The Greenyards; a Festival netball tournament at Melrose Primary School and a nine-hole golf competition at Melrose Golf Club.
The Melrosian Rideout took place on Monday night starting at The Triangle, with the concluding ceremony at Market Square.
The Fancy Dress competition and disco took place in Gilson Park on Tuesday (photos in next week's paper) and Wednesday saw a Bike Ride and BBQ at Gilson Park.

The traditional Installation of the Melrosian and Crowning of the Festival Queen took place at Melrose Abbey at 7pm on Thursday June 22.
And the Festival Ball qas held last night Friday June 23 at Annay Road.
This morning Saturday June 24 the Tour of Ceremonies starts at 8.50am at Market Square.
And there will be Sports and Family Day at Gibson Park, starting at 2.30pm.
The Melrose Festival Dinner will be held at the George and Abbotsford Hotel at 7.45pm for 8pm, and guests have been promised a great evening of entertainment.

Silver Jubilee Melrosian, Laing Robson, will provide the Toast to Melrosian with current Melrosian, Will Owen replying.
Nigel Brown will then provide the Toast to the Melrose Festival and Golden Jubilee Melrosian, Roy Mack, will reply. Right Hand Man Douglas Crawford will provide the Vote of Thanks.
