A 34-YEAR-OLD man breached a domestic abuse interdict by telephoning his ex-partner from prison and making threats towards her, Jedburgh Sheriff Court has been told.

Shaun Grieve pleaded guilty to contacting the woman from HM Prison Edinburgh on October 25 and making threats of violence towards her which breached a court order.

Drew Long, prosecuting, said there were two telephone calls which were taped by the woman at her home.

In one of the conversations, Grieve was heard to say: "I will put a bullet in your head."

He also made another threat of violence in the second conversation.

Defence lawyer Ross Dow said they had been empty threats and the situation had now calmed down.

Grieve, of Bowden Road, Newtown St Boswells, was ordered to carry out 60 hours unpaid work as part of a community payback order.

A non-harassment order was also imposed preventing Grieve from having any contact with the woman for the next two years.
