A GALASHIELS woman who spat at a police officer and told her she would infect her with hepatitis has been jailed for 11 months at Selkirk Sheriff Court.
Lace Farrell pleaded guilty to assaulting the constable at Hawick Police Station on May 13, 2021, by kicking her on the body and spitting at her while stating she was infected and uttered threats to infect her with hepatitis.
The 25-year-old, of Beech Avenue, also admitted a second charge of making derogatory remarks towards four female police officers in a police van en-route from Galashiels to Hawick Police Station by uttering threats, repeatedly kicking and headbutting a door and repeatedly spitting inside the vehicle while stating she was infected with hepatitis.
Not guilty pleas to two other counts of police assault also being found in the curtilage of a property in Market Street, Galashiels, in circumstances which inferred she intended to commit theft was accepted by the Crown.
The prison sentence was back-dated to June 7 when Farrell was remanded custody in connection with the case.
