EMERGENCY services were called to the scene of a one vehicle crash near Hawick this morning Tuesday July 11 2023.

The incident involved a red Suzuki Swift and took place around 8.50am.

One man was airlifted to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, with injuries described as being serious, but not life-threatening.

The A6088 road between Bonchester Bridge and Chesters was closed following a one vehicle collision which occurred between the Jedburgh and Newcastleton turn-offs.

Road Policing officers in the Scottish Borders are now appealing for information and witnesses.

Road Policing Sergeant Paul Ewing said: “We are asking for anyone who was in the area this morning and believes they saw the Suzuki Swift involved, or motorists who may have possible dashcam footage, to please come forward.

“You can call police on 101, quoting incident 0679 of 11 July, 2023.”

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 9.02am on Tuesday, 11 July to reports of a road traffic collision involving one vehicle on the A6088, near Bonchester Bridge.

“Operations Control mobilised two appliances to the scene, where firefighters worked alongside emergency service partners to make the area safe.

"One casualty was transported to hospital by Scottish Ambulance Service and crews left the scene at 9.38am."
