GALA Fairydean Rovers manager Martin Scott promised the fans entertainment and that's what his players delivered last night with a comfortable 2-0 home win over East Stirlingshire.
Nicky Reid gave Gala the lead in the 7th minute with a fine strike from an acute angle then moments later the striker almost made it two following a superb pass from Danny Galbraith. His shot was saved and the ball fell to Adam Watson who was flagged offside.
East Stirlingshire's keeper Jordan Pettigrew then did well to deny Reid once again as Gala kept up the pressure.
But the visitors almost equalised when Kyle Ewing headed inches over the bar from a corner.
At the other end Pettigrew denied Reid once again, this time with his feet then just before the break Ewing hit the side netting from 22-yards.
Kyle Semple was taken off with a hamstring injury and replaced at left back by a triallist whose first act was to set up Reid. His effort was blocked and fell into the path of Jamie Semple but his strike was cleared off the line.
Adam Watson then did well to dispossess a defender and break clear but Pettigrew produced another fine save.
Gala's second goal came in the 51st minute when Galbraith controlled a cross from the left and slotted the ball into the bottom right hand corner of the net.
The hosts could have made it 3-0 when Reid and Jamie Semple looked to have beaten the offside trap but the linesman's flag was raised much to the annoyance of the home supporters.
Jay Cantley was called into action near the end with a point blmk save from Shan Brown.
Sam Ostle and Luke Paxton came off the bench for the last five minutes and both showed why they are so highly rated.
Man of the Match was Adam Watson: Chosen by match sponsors Nil By Mouth represented by Oscar, Jackson, Thomas & Noah
