THE Newtown St Boswells and District Farmers’ Show took place at St Boswells Auction Mart at the weekend.
And competitors enjoyed a wide variety of classes, despite the rain.
The Supreme of the Show, judged by Miss Karen Redfearn, went to Fiona Steel’s Highland mare Moss-Side Breagh II, with veteran champion Kerloch Rupert in reserve.
Jane Hunter judged the Ridden Hunters and her champion was Captain Casanova, ridden by Nicola Neill.
Karen Redfearn placed the In Hand Hunters and chose the winner of the two-year-old class as her Champion, a home bred filly owned by Suzie Claydon, from Melrose. Reserve was Carolyn Gospel’s Grafire.
Warm Up Stakes classes also proved very popular. They are similar to working hunter pony classes but no mark is awarded for conformation.
Judge Liz Dun selected Laura Fenwick, riding Owens Mary, as her Champion.
Champion in the Working Hunter Pony classes was Kirtle Tourmaline, partnered by Rebecca Dun.

Heather Stirrat had a busy day judging the Mountain & Moorlands, Veterans, Coloureds and the Ponies and was rewarded with some good classes.
Overall in the Mountain & Moorland Section was the Highland, Moss-Side Breagh II, owned by Fiona Steel. Reserve was Kerloch Rupert.
The Coloured Section was well supported with Lisa Reid’s, Big and Bold being presented with the Championship
Kerloch Rupert was champion in the Veteran Section, with Scarlett Allan and Beckside Heiress in reserve.
The Retrained Racehorse Champion went to the ridden winner, Rushour Ryan, partnered by Neve Calvert. Reserve, was the winner of the In Hand Section, Turtle Watch, owned by Jilly Rae.
Winners in the Show Jumping were Sasha Parker, Jo Fox and Elizabeth Cregan.
Champion in the Sheep Section went to a Texel Ewe shown by Adam Anderson. The winner of the young handler's was Ewan Mair Chapman.
