POLICE in the Scottish Borders are treating the death of a 49-year-old woman within a house in Melrose as ‘unexplained.’
Officers were alerted to the death within a house in the town's Eildon Crescent around 3pm on Wednesday August 2 2023.

Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and Police Scotland say that there will be a significant police presence in the area.
A post mortem will be carried out in due course.
Police Scotland Spokesperson said: “Around 3pm on Wednesday, 2 August, 2023, police received a report a 49-year-old woman had died within a house in Eildon Crescent in Melrose.

“The death is being treated as unexplained and enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.
“A post mortem will be carried out in due course to establish the exact cause of death.
“There will be a significant police presence in the area as officers carry out enquiries.”
