ONE of the most popular pubs in Galashiels is preparing to reopen.
The Gluepot is currently being fully refurbished and new landlady Kayleigh Clark is looking forward to becoming the ‘Peggy Mitchell’ of Gala.
The long established pub with a loyal customer base is situated in Overhaugh Street just along from the H2O Nightclub.

Kayleigh and partner Tony who are both from Liverpool discovered the pub whilst visiting the Borders with their seven dogs and the pair are looking forward to opening in a few weeks time.
Kayleigh said: “We fell in love with Galashiels and the people are so friendly. We’ve thrown ourselves into getting the pub ready and I want to be the Peggy Mitchell of Gala.
“I’ve been working in and around pubs since I was 16 and I’ve been blown away by the response on social media.
“There is still a lot of work to be done but I hope to open in four-six weeks.
“We are keeping the name The Gluepot and there will be karaoke Friday, Saturday and Sunday. And possibly Monday if I get my way. I also like a boogie so there will be room for a dance.

“We aim to appeal to everyone. Upstairs there will be pool and darts and there will be live sport on TV. “And we are looking at doing food as a trial.”
