EMERGENCY services were called to the scene of a two vehicle crash on the A72 near Thornielee earlier this afternoon.
Traffic was built back in both directions as a result of the collision which took place just before 4pm.
Many vehicles diverted via back roads which also became congested.

An ambulance attended but none of the vehicle occupants were seriously injured and nobody required hospital treatment.
Police arranged for the vehicles to be safely recovered and traffic is now running normally.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 3.55pm on Monday, 14 August 2023, we received a report of a crash involving two vehicles on the A72 near Thornielee.
“Emergency services attended. There were no reports of any serious injuries and vehicle recovery was arranged.”
This was the fourth crash on the A72 in the past two weeks.
