EIGHT volunteers from the Tweed Valley Mountain Rescue team assisted Scottish Ambulance Service evacuate a female casualty who had sustained an ankle injury on difficult steep ground on Arthurs Seat, Edinburgh yesterday Monday August 14.
Emergency services were alerted to the incident around 1.30pm.

One ambulance and a special operations team were dispatched by ambulance control and were joined at the scene by the TVMR volunteers.
The casualty was transported to the New Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.
A spokesperson for the Scottish Ambulance Service said: “We received a call at 1330 hours on Monday to attend an incident at Arthur’s Seat.

“We dispatched one ambulance and our special operations team to the scene.
“We transported one female patient to New Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.”
The Tweed Valley Mountain Rescue team who are based in Melrose are a charity and have to raise most of the funds it requires itself.
It currently takes about £30,000 to cover the team’s operating expenses for one year.

Over the last six years, Mountain Rescue Teams across Scotland have received some support from the Scottish Government, although this in not sufficient to cover all of the expenses of running the team and is not guaranteed for the future.
