FIREFIGHTERS are currently tackling a large blaze at Dunbar Landfill Site opposite the A1.
Firefighters were alerted around 1.40pm on Monday, August 28, and three fire appliances attended the scene during the height of the fire.
Firefighters left the scene which was still smouldering but will return this morning the morning.
The road remains open.

UPDATE: A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service added: "We received the call at around 1.40pm this afternoon and the fire is still smouldering but crews have just stood down.
"They will return during daylight. There were three appliances present during the height of the fire."
A spokesperson for landfill operators Valencia said: “A surface fire was reported at our Dunbar landfill site on Monday with East Lothian Fire Service attending the site and are working to extinguish the fire, before monitoring the waste mass as it cools.
"Valencia Waste Management would like to apologise for the inconvenience caused by the fire around our Dunbar landfill site and appreciate there is an ongoing presence of smoke in the local community.
"We will undertake a full investigation into the cause of the fire working with the authorities, and we thank the East Lothian Fire Service and SEPA for their assistance throughout this incident.”
