Programme announced for Jedburgh's Festival of Stories

This year's event will take place on September 16 and17 at various venues including the Town Hall, Jedburgh Abbey, Mary Queen of Scots House and The Port House.

There are more than 20 individual events set to take place across each day.

They vary from in conversation events with authors, film screenings, live music, writing workshops, live storytelling plus lots of creative play and storytelling for children.

All events are free, except a small charge for the Soundbath Session on Saturday morning.

Places need to be booked through the website in advance as places are limited.

A key event for families will be the Fancy Dress Story Party at the Town Hall from 10.30-12:30 on September 17.

The festival is organised by Heron & Willow, Jedburgh's Independent Bookshop and is funded through Scottish Borders Small Festival Fund.

Dean Freeman, who runs Heron & Willow, said: "The idea with the festival was to create lots of little events, people can pick and choose what they want to try. You could come to one thing or ten.

“But all of them are intended to be fun and useful. If you've always fancied listening to an author speak or try your hand at writing or telling a story – or just want to introduce your kids to The Goonies – then this is the place to do it. It's all free so there's nothing lost, but I really hope you'll come away having learnt something and created a great memory or two."
