A DELIVERY van driver who admitted driving while over the alcohol limit has been banned from the road for 12 months at Jedburgh Sheriff Court.
Thirty-nine-year-old John Holdroyd, from Morpeth, pleaded guilty to the offence which happened on the A1007 near Cockburnspath on May 28.
Alasdair Fay, prosecuting, said a single vehicle accident happened at Pease Bridge with the accused colliding with the pillar of the bridge.
Holdroyd said he had swerved to avoid a motorcyclist on a bend and had to be treated by ambulance personnel.
He was found to be well over the legal alcohol limit.
Defence lawyer Liam Alexander said his client had contacted the police to report the accident.
He said he had been drinking the night before the incident.
