MP John Lamont has launched a competition to celebrate the best pubs in the Scottish Borders.
The MP for Berwickshire, Roxburgh and Selkirk's Local Pub Awards 2023 aims to recognise pubs that are the “beating heart” of their local community.

Nominations are open for one month, until Friday, October 6.
Pubs can be nominated online by visiting https://www.johnlamont.org/localpubawards.
Winners will be chosen based on the number of votes received from members of the public.

Mr Lamont said: “I’m launching a competition to celebrate the best Borders pubs that bring people together and play a vital role as the beating heart of their local community.
“It’s important that we recognise and support great local pubs because they are valuable businesses that play a vital role as employers in our local economy.

“The Covid pandemic and global energy price rises have made it a difficult few years for hospitality businesses.
“I am confident the future for local pubs will be much more positive as our economy grows from strength to strength.
“These awards will raise a glass to the best-loved pubs across the Borders that deserve to be toasted for what they bring to our communities.”
