A 32-YEAR-OLD man who admitted assaulting his partner to her injury has been jailed for 10 months at Selkirk Sheriff Court.
Michael Johnston, formerly of Galashiels and Newtown St Boswells, pleaded guilty to striking the woman on the head and repeatedly kicking her on the body at a house in the Borders on February 6.
He also admitted stealing a bank card from the same address on the same date.
Johnston was due to stand trial by jury but pleaded guilty to the two offences while a not guilty plea to a charge of behaving in a threatening or abusive manner was accepted by the Crown.
