POLICE officers in the Scottish Borders are continuing to target speeding drivers, particularly in the vicinity of schools.
Last week on Thursday October 5 2023 officers conducted a day of action in the Tweeddale West area following community concerns about speeding.
Speed checks were completed near Newlands Primary School, Romanno Bridge, Skirling, and Broughton Primary School, where the local Junior Road Safety Officers assisted.
Officers were also in Kingsmeadow Road in Peebles.

Three drivers were stopped and warned but the speeds detected did not meet the reporting threshold therefore none of the drivers were reported to the procurator fiscal.
Last month local officers carried out speed checks in Foulden, Reston and Clockmill, Duns where 13 drivers were stopped and spoken to by officers.
Similar activity took place at Langlee, Earlston, Allanton, Coldingham, Westruther, Gavinton and Ayton.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Please remember to drive considerately, keep to the 20mph speed limit and be mindful of vulnerable road users, including cyclists and pedestrians.
“Our focus is on increasing visibility in these areas to deter speeding and provide reassurance to the community.”
