PRIMARY 6 and Primary 7 pupils at Burnfoot Community School in Hawick spent a morning last week participating in an amazing multi agency safety based learning initiative code named Operation BEST.
Working alongside representatives from six different emergency services they joined in a variety of learning scenarios and found out about the jobs completed by the emergency services.
The children had to listen carefully and demonstrate the skills of effective co-operation, communication, patience and teamwork in each task.
A spokesperson for the school said: “We would like to say a massive thank you to all of our school emergency service partners who attended our event this morning.
This was an amazing opportunity summed up perfectly by one pupil who shared enthusiastically that ‘I love this, it’s my type of learning’
“We are proud to have you support learning in our school.
“Our final thanks go to PC Ula Trochimiak and our youth worker Dan for their planning and organisation of this event.”
PC Trochimiak was assisted at the event by fellow community officers PC Stewart, PC Tait-Logan and PC Mortimer.
