POLICE in the Scottish Borders say that there appears to be no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death a man whose body was recovered from the River Tweed in Kelso last week.
The body was recovered by officers assisted by members of the Border Search and Rescue Unit shortly before 6pm on Tuesday, October 10.

Police confirmed that a formal identification has now taken place but the man has not been named.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 5.55pm on Tuesday, 10 October 2023, the body of a man was recovered from the river in Kelso.

“Formal identification has taken place and there would appear to be no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.
A report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”

Border Search and Rescue Unit confirmed they were called to assist police with the recovery of a body from “steep ground near Kelso.”
A spokesperson said: "Our sincere condolences to family and friends of the deceased."
