POLICE officers in the Scottish Borders have charged a 26-year-old man following a reported hate crime in Hawick.
The incident took place at the Hawick Recycling Centre in Mansfield Road on Thursday August 17.

The matter was reported to officers at that time and following a length investigation the man was charged.
A report on the matter has been sent to the Procurator Fiscal.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “On Thursday, 17 August, officers received a report of a hate crime that had taken place in Hawick.
“Enquiries were carried out and a 26-year-old man has been charged in connection and report has been sent to the Procurator Fiscal.”
