MEMBERS of the public are being advised not to attend the emergency department at the Borders General Hospital unless it is for a life threatening emergency.
The hospital has been subjected to extreme pressure all week.

Now with the weekend approaching staff advise calling NHS24 on 111 prior to attending.
A spokesperson said: “Extreme pressures in our Emergency Department and across the BGH have continued all week.
“As the weekend approaches, please help us by ensuring you seek the right care in the right place.

“Unless it is a life-threatening emergency, please call NHS 24 on 111 before you attend our Emergency Department.
“”They will signpost you to the right place to get the advice or care that you need."
