CHILDREN’S Commissioner Nicola Killean visited Burgh Primary School in Galashiels this week to launch a new illustrated book in Scots on human rights for very young children.
The book, aimed at children aged up to five and beautifully illustrated by Corinna Campbell, from Inverness, takes young children on a journey to discover rights like having a safe home, the right to be healthy, to learn, and to play.

“I was delighted to be part of it and particularly impressed with the knowledge and enthusiasm of the children in the LaLA Group, with representatives from children in P2 to P7.”
Emma Armstrong, Burgh PS Depute Head, said: “Having the Children’s Commissioner at Burgh for the book launch was a very special occasion, the event is particularly significant as Burgh Primary School has actively championed Article 12, emphasising the crucial right of children to have a voice which is heard.
