THE third wind turbine blade scheduled for Pines Burn Wind Farm which has been parked at the A6088 layby since last Thursday is scheduled to resume its journey this morning.

The abnormal load convoy with a police escort is due to set off as planned shortly after 9.30am this morning from the layby.

The transport of the turbine components is carried out by a experienced hauliers using extremely specialist vehicles that travel at low speeds on certain routes.

These vehicles are able to lift and tilt the long components where necessary to avoid trees, lamp posts, road signs and to negotiate bends and road undulations.

Due to the size of the turbine components they are classified as abnormal loads and must be escorted by specially trained Police Scotland officers.

Due to the size of the components needed for the wind farm there will undoubtedly be some disruption to travel arrangements for local communities.

A spokesperson for Pines Burn Windfarm said that all efforts are being made to keep this to an absolute minimum.  

The company will be using the live tracker and a link will be provided when the convoy sets off.
