Approximately 170 metres of the A68 on the approaches to the junction with Roman Camp will be resurfaced.

These works will ensure the carriageway has the appropriate skid resistant qualities on the approaches to a new pedestrian crossing that is being installed.

To ensure the safety of the workforce and the travelling public, the A68 will be closed in both directions at this location between the hours of 7.30pm and 6.30am.

This diversion will add approximately 3.7 miles and an additional 9 minutes to affected journeys.

Local access for residents will be permitted and access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.

Relevant stakeholders have been consulted in advance to make them aware of the plans.

Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “We’re pleased to be able to deliver these improvements on the A68 in Pathhead on behalf of Transport Scotland.

“We’ve already completed the civils works to enable a new pedestrian crossing at this location, which will be commissioned in the near future. We’re now returning to resurface the carriageway around it.

“We thank motorists and the local community in advance for their patience and understanding.”

Real time journey information is available from Traffic Scotland at www.traffic.gov.scot, or on X at @trafficscotland.

The work is weather dependent and subject to postponement or cancellation in event of adverse conditions.
