SCOTTISH rugby legend Arthur 'Hovis' Brown is to be inducted into the Melrose Sevens Hall of Fame.

He started playing rugby at Gala RFC and was a talented player in both the 15 and seven-a-side game.
Throughout his career, Brown wore the jerseys of Gala, the South of Scotland and Scotland. His commitment to the game and his exceptional abilities made him a key player for both the Borders side and the national team.
Among his many sevens triumphs, the 1969 Gala Sevens final at Netherdale stands out. Brown helped his team to a resounding victory against Loughborough College with a commanding score of 38-5.
Brown's career also includes being a pivotal part of the winning Gala team at the Melrose Sevens.
His contributions extend to the international stage, earning him five caps for the Scottish national team. His debut at Twickenham, where Scotland emerged victorious, marked the beginning of a memorable international career.
The Melrose Sevens Hall of Fame induction is a fitting tribute to Brown's outstanding career, celebrating his impact on the sport of rugby sevens.
The formal ceremony will take place at the Jackson Distillers Hall of Fame Dinner on Thursday, April 11.
