SCAMMERS have targeted an online competition set by a new Chinese restaurant which is set to open in the Borders today Friday December 15.
Following extensive redevelopment work, The Shanghai Banquet is set to open at noon in the premises formerly occupied by Herges on the Loch in Tweedbank.

Ahead of the opening, owners announced a competition to name the two lions outside the entrance.
The competition runs for one month with the winners receiving two free adult meals.
However scammers have been contacting entrants asking for bank information.

A message posted on social media reads: "Dear customers, if you receive a message about winning the prize, please do not believe it. We will not ask any customer for your bank information. This is a scam.
"The Winner will be drawn on the 15th January 2024. Thank you everyone."
The restaurant will open between 12noon-3pm for lunch then 4.30pm – 9.30pm Monday to Saturday (Closed on Tuesdays) and 12-noon – 9-30pm on Sundays.
