A GALASHIELS man who assaulted his former partner has been ordered to carry out 180 hours of unpaid work.
Jamie Moore, 33, also had a non-harassment order imposed ordering him to stay away from the woman for three years.
He had pleaded guilty at a previous hearing at Selkirk Sheriff Court to assaulting the woman by pushing her against a wall and seizing her by the neck at a house in the Borders in January 2022.
Defence lawyer Mat Patrick said drink had played its part in an “unsavoury incident”.
Sheriff Kevin McCarron said he was prepared to give Moore “a chance” and imposed a community-based disposal as an alternative to custody.
