A NATIONAL election is set to be held this year.
And recently two Tweeddale councillors hit the campaign trail.
Tweeddale East’s Marshall Douglas and colleague Tweeddale West’s Viv Thomson joined Kim Marshall, the prospective parliamentary Scottish National Party candidate for Dumfriesshire, Clydesdale and Tweeddale, in Peebles and Innerleithen.
Hot on the heels of former Tory Prime Minister Theresa May and sitting Tweeddale Conservative MP David Mundell, who dropped in at Forsyths the butchers, Ms Marshall visited Peebles businesses, including Whitie’s Bookshop and the Eastgate Theatre.
Mr Douglas said: “A braw Saturday in Tweeddale.
“Lots of supporters came out to meet, chat with and get to know Kim in Peebles High St in the morning.
“All in all, a grand day out, great support, lots of useful conversations, plenty learning and much to be positive about.”
The day finished with a bite to eat at Loulabelle’s in Innerleithen.
Kim Marshall’s adoption night was held on Friday, February 2 at the Eastgate Theatre.
Guest speakers at the event included Màiri McAllan, MSP for Clydesdale; Alison Thewliss, MP for Glasgow Central; Cameron Greer (local member and Young Scots for Independence); and Ms Marshall.
