PRIOR to Scotland’s Six Nations match against France at Murrayfield this weekend, former Selkirk wing Kenny Trotter will be one of 17 players presented with retrospective caps by the Scottish Rugby Union.
He will become Selkirk’s 14th Scotland international, and has been allocated cap number 1,209.
To mark this achievement, the Philiphaugh club’s most capped player, John Rutherford, presented his former team-mate with a Selkirk club tie before the Souters’ Premiership match against Hawick on Saturday.
Trotter and Rutherford were both members of the Scotland XV that took on Holland in a non-cap fixture at Hilversum on October 19, 1975.
“I’m delighted for Kenny,” said Rutherford. “He was a key player for Selkirk in the 1970s, and but for career-shortening injuries would undoubtedly have gone on to win more honours in the game.”
