A PROVISIONAL licence holder who led police on a high-speed chase in the Borders has been banned from the road for 18 months at Jedburgh Sheriff Court.
Mohammed Zubair hit speeds of 100mph on the A68 and 60mph going through Earlston and Lauder and refused to stop when requested to do so by police.
When police finally caught up with the 20-year-old he gave officers a false name.
Sheriff James Hastie expressed concern at the manner of his driving at a time when people would be leaving public houses in Lauder and Earlston.
Zubair pleaded guilty to charges of dangerous driving on the A68 on the night of September 2, no insurance and no licence.
