MELROSE Sevens is to be shown on the BBC this year for the first time since the coronavirus pandemic.
BBC Scotland will broadcast the prestigious event on Saturday, April 13, via the iPlayer, starting from the quarter final stage at 4pm.
Viewers will get to watch the action right through to the men’s and women’s finals, due to finish by 7.30pm.
Melrose Sevens tournament director Phil Morris said: “We are delighted to once again be supported by BBC Scotland, it is a real honour for us to have them back at the Greenyards. We would like to take this opportunity to thank Scottish Rugby for their help in securing this deal with BBC Scotland.”
BBC Sport Scotland’s executive editor for sport, Tom Connor, said: “We are both delighted and excited to be back covering the iconic Melrose Sevens.
“This has long been a great event for us to broadcast to fans of rugby across Scotland at the home of the game and we look forward to showcasing the tournament on BBC iPlayer for the first time and across the BBC Sport website and app.”
The rugby action kicks off just after 11am on the second Saturday in April and will be shown throughout the day on the Melrose Sevens YouTube channel.
