YOUNG Peeblesshire brass players have enjoyed success at a national level.
Members of the Peebles Burgh and St. Ronan’s bands travelled to the Scottish Solo and Ensemble Finals in Bellshill at the weekend.
In the junior section, the St. Ronan’s Junior Ensemble gained third prize, while soloists Caitlyn Robb and Vivien Giegerich achieved silver awards.
In the intermediate section, the ensemble from Peebles Burgh Youth Band was also awarded third, with soloist James Grassick grabbing a silver gong.
Both groups were conducted by Keith Belleville, who was delighted with the success of all young players.
He said: “The children and young people have all worked extremely hard since qualifying for this event back in February and thoroughly deserve the positive recognition they have received at the Scottish Finals.”
Any young brass players or percussionists who would like to get involved in playing with either of the Tweeddale bands should get in touch at either secretary.pbsb@gmail.com or hello@stronanssilverband.org
