THIS year’s Beltane principals will be announced tomorrow night (Friday, April 19).

Returning to the Burgh Hall this year after being held at the Drill Hall in 2023, Introduction Night will see Cornet 2023 Robert Girdwood and Cornet’s Lass 2023 Ailidh Copeland hand over the reins to this year’s Principals.

At the event at 7pm, Beltane Festival Chairman Paul Spence will unveil this year’s Cornet Elect, Cornet’s Lass, Crowning Lady, Warden of Neidpath, Warden of the Cross Kirk, and Proclaimer of the Beltane Fair.

This year’s Beltane Queen and Court will be announced at a ceremony next month.

A Beltane spokesperson said: “The fun starts at 7pm in the hall with some musical entertainment and a coffee evening, there will also be a raffle.

“Peebles Silver Band will provide the musical accompaniment for what will be another memorable celebration in the build up to the Beltane Festival.

“So don’t be late, and don’t forget we will we singing loudly The Beltane Song for the first time 2024.”

Following the announcements the Principals for 2023 will meet with guests.

Peebles Beltane Festival will run from Sunday, June 16, to Saturday, June 22.
