A HEARTFELT appeal has been issued in the search for a Borders man reported missing from Prague.
Joop Sparkes, of Galashiels, has been missing since the early hours of Sunday (April 28) in the Czechia capital.
The 29-year-old allegedly went overboard into the Vltava River during a boat trip with friends.
The Borderer is believed to have entered the water between 1am and 2am, near the Charles Bridge area, while wearing a black T-shirt.
His sister, girlfriend and other family members have flown out to Prague in a bid to find him.
A fundraising page has been set up to help his loved ones stay in the city for as long as possible to work with local authorities.
The appeal reads: “Joop is a cherished son, brother, boyfriend, and uncle. He works in the construction industry and enjoys outdoor adventures, staying fit, and spending time with loved ones.
“He is a funny, caring and adventurous young man who spends much of his time in nature - from climbing mountains to camping in the wilderness. He also spends much of his time with his girlfriend Charley and working on his cars (especially his Honda Civic Type R!).
“We cannot bear the thought of leaving Prague without Joop. Your support means the world to us as we tirelessly search for him.
“Please keep Joop in your thoughts and prayers. Your donation will help us to stay in Prague as long as we can to investigate and work with local authorities to find out what happened to him.
“We would also like to thank everyone for their messages of support. We are unable to respond to them all at this time as our efforts and attention remain focused on finding Joop.”
The appeal has raised around £5,000 - smashing the original target of £800.
