A NEPALESE and Indian restaurant in the Borders is celebrating its success at a national awards ceremony.
Galashiels business,1953 Bar and Restaurant, walked away with the Best Kitchen Award at the 16th Scottish Curry Awards held in Glasgow.
The restaurant, run by Navin Kandel, has had a very successful first 12 months of serving Borders customers.
Four months after opening in May 2023 the restaurant received a Best Indian Restaurant gong from the Spice Awards, and then won New Restaurant of the Year at the Scottish Asian Food Awards at the start of this year.
Sharing to social media, Navin and his team said: "We would like to announce that we won Kitchen of the Year at the Scottish Curry Awards 2024.
"Thanks our valuable customers, supporters, voters and our well experienced, dedicated team."
For their Kitchen of the Year award the 1953 team travelled to the DoubleTree by Hilton in Glasgow to join other restaurants from around Scotland in celebrating.
The awards, from Oceanic Consulting, were held on April 18.
A spokesperson from the Scottish Curry Awards 2024 said: "We successfully delivered the 16th Scottish Curry Awards 2024 on 15th April 2024, Monday at DoubleTree By Hilton, Glasgow.

1953 Bar and Restaurant can be found on the corner of High Street and Bridge Street.
The restaurant is open Tuesday to Sunday from 4-10pm.
