A SCHOOL in Hawick is lavishly praised in a new report.
Representatives of the Care Inspectorate completed an unannounced visit to Burnfoot Community School in Kenilworth Avenue on May 8.
The service is provided by Scottish Borders Council and provides a care service to a maximum of 110 children at any one time.
Inspectors found “significant strengths” in aspects of the care provided.
Children were leading their play due to the play spaces, resources and supportive staff interactions.
Youngsters also made progress in literacy and emotional well-being through “creative and engaging play experiences”.
Staff also showed commitment to continuous professional development to support positive outcomes for children and families.
The service was rated ‘very good’ for care, play and learning, its setting, leadership and its staff team.
