A SECOND thunderstorm warning has been issued for the Borders this week.
Yesterday (Monday, May 27) the Borders experienced heavy rain and rolls of thunder after a yellow warning for thunderstorms was issued by the Met Office.
Today (Tuesday) however, the weather body has issued a second warning which will be in place today from 3pm until midnight.
Heavy showers and thunder could see downpours in areas, increasing the risk of flooding and disruption on roads and to public transport.
Some areas covered by the warning could also see frequent hail, lightning, and gusty winds.
This latest warning covers the whole of the Borders.
A Met Office spokesperson said: "Heavy showers and thunderstorms will spread eastwards this afternoon before slowly fading later this evening. Where storms are particularly frequent 20 to 30 mm of rain may build up over two or three hours.
"Frequent lightning, hail and gusty winds will be additional hazards in some places."
